Benji Heinke

Born in Somerset, Benji Heinke came to music through a Fine Art background, having studied painting and printmaking at Winchester School of Art. Since 2018, he has released a run of albums and singles shaped by a distinctly visual sensibility and a strong interest in how image, mood and sound interact.

Heinke designs the artwork for all of his releases and directs videos for selected tracks, treating each project as a complete aesthetic world rather than a standalone recording / set of recordings. His work draws on pop semiotics as much as music itself, with influences ranging from New Order and Talking Heads to Peter Gabriel and LCD Soundsystem.

In 2026, he launched Hotel Soap as an imprint for his own releases, with a longer-term view toward opening it out to other artists.
