Blue Eden is a concept album shaped around a dream-turned-nightmare that Heinke felt could exist as a film. Set against a liminal Californian atmosphere, its world combines pop-inflected West Coast brightness with an undercurrent of unease: in the album’s narrative, bleeding bodies begin to transform into botanical beings once water enters the bloodstream, while recurring phone messages chart a rising “infection rate”. Part suburban hallucination, part body-horror fable, it evokes a meeting point between The Truman Show, Midsommar and The Substance, relocated to an affluent Californian suburb.
